It seems like only a couple of weeks since I did Michaela and Andrew’s maternity shoot, where I was itching to be find out the sex of the baby. I finally got to meet and take photos of Rupert, after waiting for so long. Despite only being 5 weeks old, he had the most gorgeous smile.
This was my first proper newborn shoot. When I first started my business I tried doing a couple of newborn shoots, to gain experience. However, as I didn’t have the correct lighting equipment, I struggled to capture the soft lighting on the baby’s face.
The ideal time to get those sleepy baby shots is around the first three weeks of the baby’s life. Rupert being slightly older meant he was watching my every move.
While Michaela was pregnant, she found solidarity in making crochet. Some of which I decided to use in the photos, to give a more personal feel to the images.
With a Fulham mad mum, it was hard to say no to a couple of “sponsored” photos, with Rupert sporting the red, white and black team colours.
I got a chance at the end of the shoot to capture a couple of family shots, including special cuddles from daddy.
I’ve enjoyed playing a part in the journey from bump to baby, making special memories of Rupert. I wish them the best of luck with everything and I can’t wait to see them all again soon.
