From Shifts to Soulmates

It turns out you can find love exactly where you least expect it. For this lovely couple, the journey began at the local bus depot where they both worked. They started out just managing schedules and routes, but it didn’t take long for them to realise they were headed in the exact same direction. After years of working at the depot, they realised they held the ticket to each other's happiness. Now, they've safely steered their relationship toward forever, proving that true love is always the ultimate destination. Fast forward to today, and they were celebrating a completely different kind of journey together. (seriously, how many bus related Bus puns can you get in one paragraph?)

A Beautiful, Music-Filled Service.

The day kicked off at All Saints Church in Sherburn in Elmet, a lovely little village just outside of Leeds. The weather was classic Yorkshire—a bit changeable with some rain in the air—but it didn’t dampen anyone's spirits for a second. The service itself was deeply religious and absolutely stunning, mostly because Alistair is a man of serious musical talent. also he directs the a church choir at Sherburn in Elmet called "Sing Joy" which is a children's choir, and they were joined by friends from two other Consorts, and he is also an organist to Pusey. Having all this serious talent perform during the ceremony made the church echo with the most incredible harmonies. It gave me absolute goosebumps and set such a beautiful tone for the rest of the day. The Choir was conducted by a Mr Matthew Lazenby who was wearing many hats today.

All Aboard the Wedding Bus!

After the ceremony, we gathered in the church grounds to shoot the classic family portraits. Once those were ticked off, it was time for the best transportation surprise ever. Alistair actually owns a classic Scania single-decker bus, and that was the official wedding shuttle!

Best man Matthew Lazenby helped keep everyone organized and moving, and all the guests piled onto Alistair’s bus to head over to the reception at Bert’s Barrow Farm Barn. It was such a fun, personal nod to how they met.

The Reception Venue

Rustic Charm at Bert’s Barrow Farm Barn

When the Scania bus pulled up to Bert’s Barrow Farm Barn, the vibe for the rest of the night was instantly set. If you’ve never been, this place is the absolute definition of rustic charm, and it was the perfect backdrop for Alistair and Claire’s celebrations. The barn itself looked like something straight out of a fairytale. It was decked out from top to bottom in soft, warm fairy lights that gave the whole space a cozy, magical glow as the afternoon turned into evening. To lean into that authentic countryside feel, they had hay bales scattered around for seating, which added such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere to the room. Complete with a fully stocked bar keeping the drinks flowing, the energy in the room was brilliant from the moment everyone walked through the doors.

Matthew Lazenby Steals the Show

When it was time for the speeches under the twinkling fairy lights of the Yorkshire barn, Matthew Lazenby took the mic—and he did not disappoint. What followed was a masterclass in best man speeches, perfectly balancing side-splitting humour with beautifully serious touches. The absolute highlight of the night? Matthew’s brilliant takedown of Alistair’s legendary, borderline-unhealthy obsession with Marks & Spencer food.Outside, the venue looks out over gorgeous, rolling Yorkshire fields. Even with the changeable weather, that beautiful, wide-open outlook gave the whole day a really peaceful, escape-from-the-city feel.A huge shoutout has to go to the staff at Bert's Barrow, too—they were absolutely fantastic, keeping everything running smoothly without a hitch. The guests were absolutely loving it, soaking up the atmosphere, chatting on the hay bales, and enjoying the view. It was just one of those perfect nights where everyone felt right at home.
